Welcome to Verdigris Upper Elementary!! I am so excited to start school year 2026-2027 and see all of my students! My name is Amy Moyer, Verdigris Upper Elementary Principal and this is starting my 14th year here at Verdigris and 33rd year in education. I have a husband, Mike Moyer, two children-- Correy and Trevor, and their spouses--JD and Katy, 3 grandchildren-- Kailey, Rolland and Monroe, and 2 dogs--Moxie and Buck.

I love education because it is satisfying to see how much growth can happen in a year. When a student goes from struggling to applying, you know that real learning has taken place. In a world of immediate gratification, it is hard to watch the process of struggling but this is where a student learns grit. This is when a student learns to set a goal and work towards their own success, or realize the consequence of doing nothing--which is also a learning moment. As our mission states, "The mission of VPS is to create an environment that empowers all students to unlock their full potential through high expectations" which means the teachers do not give out grades--the students will earn them. True effort will pay off. Our vision states that we are "Developing today's students to be PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS and LIFELONG LEARNERS for tomorrow's ever changing world." We want students that can think for themselves and enjoy everyday learning something new.
